Following a successful run over the extended Christmas weekend, Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” experienced a decline of over Rs 10 crore on its first Tuesday. Despite the boost from the Christmas holiday on Monday, the film seems to have seen a reduction in audience turnout once again. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Tuesday box office collection for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer amounted to Rs 10.25 crore, marking its lowest single-day earnings since its release on December 21.
“Dunki” opened strong with Rs 29.2 crore on its first day but saw a dip on the second day, raking in Rs 20.12 crore. However, the film rebounded on Saturday with Rs 25.61 crore and reached its peak on Sunday, surpassing even its opening day collection with Rs 30.7 crore. Taking advantage of the Monday holiday, the film earned Rs 24.32 crore. The cumulative box office earnings for director Rajkumar Hirani’s comedy-drama now stand at Rs 140.20 crore nett in India.

Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” embarked on its cinematic journey on December 21, accumulating an impressive ₹29.2 crore net in India on its opening day. However, the film experienced a dip on the second day, Friday, with collections amounting to ₹20.12 crore net, marking a 31.1% decrease.
The weekend brought a positive turn for “Dunki,” witnessing a notable surge on Saturday with collections rebounding to ₹25.61 crore net, reflecting a substantial 27.29% increase from the previous day. This positive trajectory continued on Sunday, with figures soaring to ₹30.7 crore net, indicating a robust 19.88% rise and attesting to the film’s growing popularity.
Early estimates for Monday’s numbers displayed a collection of ₹24.32 crore net, bringing the total net collection in India to an estimated ₹135.85 crore after five days.
According to Sacnilk, the Rajkumar Hirani-directed film’s total worldwide collection after Day 5 stands at ₹256 crore, with ₹100 crore from overseas. However, Red Chillies Entertainment reports a slightly different figure, citing the total worldwide collection for “Dunki” on day six as ₹256.40 crore.
At the current pace, the film surpassed ₹256 crore on day six, making it a part of the top-grossers’ club of Bollywood in 2023. Having already crossed ₹250 crore after Monday’s numbers, “Dunki” surpassed “OMG 2” (₹221.75 crore) and “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” (₹223 crore) to become the 8th biggest movie of the year. Its next target is “The Kerala Story” (₹302 crore).
In comparison to “Dunki,” Prabhas’ “Salaar: Cease Fire – Part 1″ released on December 22 has made an impressive mark, earning nearly ₹271.6 crore in the domestic market within five days. The movie generated around ₹16.2 crore India net on its 5th day for all languages, accumulating ₹391.5 crore worldwide within five days of release.
