‘Dunki’ Box Office Collection on Day 9 Records ₹7.25 Crore, Poised for Weekend Surge
Shah Rukh Khan’s film, ‘Dunki,’ has experienced a slight decline in its box office figures as it embarks on its second week, yet anticipation looms for an upward trend in the days ahead. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film garnered ₹7.25 crore on its second Friday, according to early estimates, contributing to a total earnings of approximately ₹167.47 crore in India. Despite the dip, the film displayed an overall occupancy of 20.74 percent on day 9, with cities like Bengaluru and Chennai exhibiting high occupancies, particularly during evening and night shows.
Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel expressed optimism about the film’s performance, tweeting, “Dunki Second Friday will be more than Yesterday (Thursday). The trend indicates the film could collect ₹45-50 crore on its four-day second Weekend.”
Internationally, ‘Dunki’ has crossed the ₹320 crore gross mark, as shared by Red Chillies Entertainment. The film, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, explores the complexities of friendship, borders, nostalgia, and love. Set against the backdrop of a heartwarming story about four friends pursuing dreams of a better life in London, the film, co-written by Abhijaat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon, is presented by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films.
Released on December 21, ‘Dunki’ competes with Prabhas’ ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ at the box office, creating an exciting clash between the two films.
