Filmfare Awards Set to Shine in Gandhinagar Gujarat Gears Up for Glitz: 69th
Filmfare Awards, one of the most prestigious events in the Hindi film industry, is gearing up for its 69th edition. Scheduled to take place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on January 28, 2024, the event marks a significant collaboration between the Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited (TCGL) and Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd, a Times Group Company. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in July 2023, witnessed by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Vineet Jain, Managing Director of Times Group.
Actor Tiger Shroff, representing the Hindi film industry, expressed his personal connection to Gujarat during the MoU signing ceremony. Reflecting on his history with the Filmfare Awards, Tiger shared, “I have a special relation with Gujarat as my grandfather was Gujarati. And speaking of Filmfare, I have had a beautiful relationship with this award show. I attended the Filmfare Awards for the first time in 1990. That year my father (Jackie Shroff) won the Best Actor Award at Filmfare, and I have been attending the award show since then. I also got opportunities to perform at several editions.”
Expressing his excitement, Tiger added, “This is going to be an amazing experience. Thank you to the CM of Gujarat for opening his arms up to the film industry, to Filmfare.”
The Filmfare Awards, initiated in 1954, have been a pinnacle of recognition in the industry. Notably, the film “Black” (2005) holds the record for winning the highest number of Filmfare awards in a single year, securing victories in 11 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.

In a significant collaboration, the Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited (TGCL) and Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd joined hands, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July to orchestrate this prestigious event. The ceremony, graced by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Times Group Managing Director Vineet Jain, underlines the state’s commitment to hosting this cinematic celebration.

Reportedly, ‘Black’ (2005) secured a record-setting 11 Awards in a single year across various categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Critics Award Best Movie, Best Actor (Critics’ Choice), Best Actress (Critics’ Choice), Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Background Score.
