Rajkummar Rao Shatters Plastic Surgery Rumors, Advocates for Positive Body Image
Rajkummar Rao Defies Pressure Amid Plastic Surgery Rumours
Amidst swirling rumors suggesting that Rajkummar Rao underwent plastic surgery, the acclaimed actor has vehemently denied such claims, clarifying that his only cosmetic alteration was the use of fillers nearly a decade ago. Addressing the intense scrutiny male actors face regarding their appearance, Rajkummar emphasized that the pressure to maintain a certain image is just as formidable for men as it is for women in the film industry.
In a candid interview with Film Companion, Rajkummar Rao candidly shared his perspective on the pervasive expectations surrounding physical appearance in showbiz. Reflecting on the omnipresence of paparazzi and the relentless scrutiny actors endure, he highlighted the necessity for constant vigilance in maintaining a presentable image whenever stepping into the public eye.
Responding to inquiries about whether male actors face comparable pressures to their female counterparts, Rajkummar asserted, “It’s the same. I don’t think it’s any different. Maybe not so bad that they talk about your chappals. But it happened to me recently, so I know. One wrong angle, one wrong picture, one wrong moment captured, and people would just talk about it for no reason. I don’t know how it became like this. It was never like this. Now, you go to the airport and wonder what if there are paps there yar. I’m not carrying my cap, it’s a bad hair day, the picture will come, and there will be bad comments. That pressure is there. It’s so weird.”
Setting the record straight regarding recent speculations surrounding his appearance, Rajkummar Rao firmly dispelled any notions of plastic surgery, attributing altered photographs to digital touch-ups rather than surgical enhancements. He elaborated, “I’ve not gone under the knife. I have not done any kind of plastic surgery. That picture, if you see it again, how is it possible in 14 years, there’s one picture and no other picture like that. It’s certainly a touched-up picture because my skin is looking so flawless. Even I was amazed how it’s so flawless without any makeup and after shooting the whole day.”
Opening up about his personal journey with self-image and societal expectations, the 39-year-old actor revealed that he had opted for fillers on his chin approximately eight to nine years ago to boost his confidence. However, he underscored that such cosmetic alterations had no bearing on his identity or artistic integrity, asserting,
“When I was looking for work and when I started working, people commented on my looks and everything. So, eight-nine years back, I did a little touch up on my chin with fillers, which is like a half an hour job, because I wanted to feel more confident, which I do. I feel I look much better. But has it changed me as a person? Has it changed me as an artist? Not at all.”
Looking ahead, Rajkummar Rao’s packed schedule includes an array of promising projects, including “Srikanth,” “Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,” “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,” and “Stree 2,” showcasing his unwavering commitment to his craft and his resilience in the face of external scrutiny.
As Rajkummar Rao navigates the intricacies of fame and scrutiny, his journey serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities inherent in the entertainment industry. Despite his unwavering dedication to his craft and undeniable talent, the actor finds himself entangled in discussions about his appearance—a testament to the unforgiving nature of public scrutiny and the ever-evolving standards of beauty imposed by society.
In an industry where image often eclipses substance, Rajkummar’s candid revelations shed light on the profound impact such pressures can have on individuals, irrespective of gender. His willingness to address these issues head-on not only highlights the pervasive nature of body image concerns but also underscores the importance of fostering a culture of acceptance and authenticity within the entertainment sphere.
